Coming To HubSpot’s Partner Day? Here’s How To Take Full Advantage Of This Special Event

Find me on:

HubSpot Partner DayIf you’ve been to Inbound and loved it, then HubSpot’s Partner Day is something you should consider. While the registration is limited (I don’t think it’s been closed yet), Partner Day is a unique opportunity to spend quality time with HubSpot team members.

It’s also time to talk to and learn from agencies who all have similar challenges and issues. This smaller event (around 200 people) and its location (in HubSpot) offices allow for a more intimate, educational, and highly productive two days. I would highly recommend anyone working with HubSpot to find the time and money to attend the event.

Here’s how to optimize your time at Partner Day!

Spend As Much Time With HubSpot As Possible

This is the true value of Partner Day in my opinion. You get to rub elbows, meet and talk to a ton of HubSpot team members. This isn’t Inbound where HubSpot peeps are busier than a bee in a beehive.

You're in the HubSpot offices and there are key players in almost every department everywhere. This is your chance to sit down and talk to them. They have an extensive amount of experience and are very willing to try and help you with any of your challenges or issues.

HubSpot Partner DaySpend time with your CAM, with your Client Manager and get to know the leaders in both of those areas. Try to talk to some of the executives. Typically, they have science fairs where they show off new features, new product demos and some interesting upgrades they’re working on. This is a great opportunity to ask them any technical questions you’ve been dying to talk to them about.

I might even go so far as to identify key HubSpotters you want to meet but haven’t had the chance. Ask your CAM in advance about the opportunity and ask them to introduce you. Partner Day is a laid-back atmosphere and much

easier to get the attention of key HubSpot people. Take advantage of this opportunity as it doesn’t come often.

Talk To Other Agency Owners

There should be a couple of hundred agency owners just like you at the event. Most of them are happy to talk to

you and happier to share how great everything is going in their shops. The community of HubSpot partners is unique in that most partner networks are NOT so willing to share. Most partner networks view other partners as competitors but in this case, almost all the HubSpot partners are more than willing to share.

This is a great opportunity to learn what other agencies are doing and how you might do something similar. Make sure you understand the context of any agency advice. Someone doing $200,000 might have a great idea but applying that at your $2,000,000 shop might not be as easy as you think. The same goes for any agency sessions. Make sure you understand ALL the details before you think you found the answer to 100% client retention.

There are a lot of smart people at Partner Day. But your agency is unique and just because it worked at one person’s agency doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you in the same way.

Ask A Lot Of Questions

HubSpot Partner DayIf you know the DISC profile system, then you know there is a category called Conscientious. People in this category of the profile system like to collect a lot of data and they ask a lot of questions to get access to that data and to more information than most people typically need. That’s me. At Square 2 Marketing we apply a bird to this category to better illustrate the personality type and the bird that fits here is the owl.

I’m an owl at HubSpot’s Partner Day. I ask a lot of questions, I collect a lot of information, I’m looking for data points, key learnings, ideas and concepts that I think might be applicable at my agency. I’m not looking to do exactly what someone else is doing, but I am thinking about how I can apply that concept to what we do or I’m thinking how we can improve what we currently do by applying that idea. This works very well and has served us well over the past 8 years of working with HubSpot and in this community.

Don’t do what everyone else is doing, take what you learn and help your agency do what NO ONE else is doing.

Create Your Own Agenda

I don’t mean pick your sessions. I mean create your own agenda. You have two days in Boston, at HubSpot and in the presence of some very smart people. Decide who you want to meet, who you want to talk to, who you want to spend five minutes with and who you want to spend 90 minutes with.

Identify those HubSpot features you need to better understand and the technical questions you need answers to. Bring live client situations and work to get answers to those pressing questions that are keeping you from getting clients better results.

Take an objective look at your shop and identify all those areas that need help, upgrades, advances or support and make sure you have the meetings, sessions and discussions set up to get you the answers you need to make sure that when you leave to head home, you agency is 10x better than when you arrived in Boston.

Start Today Tip – Get ready for what can be a wonderful experience. Don’t show up and hope you're going to bump into the people you want meet. Create a plan that includes getting answers to your challenges and then line up the sessions, experts and owners who you think can help. This is how you’ll make the most of your investment in both time and money when you come to Boston in May and don’t forget to have fun. Boston in May is beautiful and the city is filled with incredible food, bars, and entertainment.
